The Approach

“People do business with people they like. Your brand is where that relationship begins.”

The Origin

Not every legacy begins with ambition. Some begin with responsibility.

At six years old, Shima Khayat immigrated from Damascus, Syria, to the United States with her family in pursuit of a future they could only imagine. They arrived with no family ties, no established support system, and no guarantees—only unwavering faith, relentless determination, and the courage to begin again. As the first in her family to learn English, Shima quickly became more than a daughter. She became their translator, their voice, and their bridge to a world they were still learning to navigate.

Long before there were companies, boardrooms, or the worlds of business, medicine, and law, Shima understood what it meant to stand in the gap for the people she loved. She learned that advocacy isn't simply about speaking for someone—it's about making sure they're seen, understood, and never left to navigate life's most difficult moments alone.

Years later, after her mother suffered a fall at work, that lesson became deeply personal. What should have been a straightforward path to justice became a devastating example of what happens when systems fail to communicate. Language barriers, fragmented medical care, and a disconnect between healthcare and the legal process meant the case was never judged on the strength of its facts. The truth wasn't absent. It was simply lost between disciplines. No one connected the pieces. No one stood in the gap.

That moment became more than a family story. It became the foundation of Shima's life's work.

For more than a decade, she has dedicated her career to closing the gaps that too often exist between healthcare, legal advocacy, and human connection. Through Neuro 1, she advances neurological care for injured patients. Through Legal Bestie, she builds meaningful relationships that strengthen the legal community. Through The C.A.R.E. Organization, she champions vulnerable children and families whose voices deserve to be heard. Different organizations. Different industries. One unwavering purpose.

Shima doesn't believe the world's greatest problems are solved by choosing between medicine or law, business or philanthropy. They are solved when someone is willing to connect what others have left disconnected.

Because the most powerful advocate isn't the loudest voice in the room. It's the one who refuses to let anyone stand there alone.

By The Numbers

Why representation and diagnosis change outcomes

The case for advocacy isn't a feeling — it's documented, repeatedly, by researchers with no reason to favor either side of a claim. Here's the data behind the work.

Injury victims who hire an attorney recover roughly 3.5× more, on average, than those who don't — and this comes from research funded by the insurance industry itself, not by trial lawyers.

Represented vs. Unrepresented Claimants

3.5×

Higher average settlement for claimants represented by an attorney vs. those who went unrepresented.

$16,658

Average bodily injury payment for represented claimants, vs. $4,699 for unrepresented claimants.

85%

Share of all bodily-injury settlement dollars paid by insurers that went to claimants who had hired an attorney.

80,000+

Auto injury claims studied, with the pattern holding consistently from 1977 through the most recent research.
